What is the Home Maintenance Program?

The Home Maintenance team consists of volunteer handymen willing to do small jobs and minor maintenance for residents who are no longer comfortable doing it themselves or who are temporarily incapacitated.

If the work can be done in an hour or two, our handyman will complete the work himself during a single visit. If the task is more complex, or is repetitive in nature, our volunteer will assist the resident to find appropriate professional help.

How It Works:

Simply call our voice message center at (865) 458-7084. Leave a message with your name, address, phone number, and a description of your problem. You might also indicate a good time to return your call.

Our team captain or a maintenance volunteer will call you back within 24 hours to get more details.

Our captain will then match your job with the skills of one of our volunteer handymen who will call to schedule a time to come to your home to do the work.

Note: Our handymen all carry a Tellico Village ID.

What can you expect from us?

  • Free labor (or advice) to fix your problem as quickly as possible. (If a professional is needed, we can assist in making those arrangements.)
  • If parts are required, our volunteer will estimate their cost, offer to get them for you, and arrange a time to return and complete your job.

What do we ask of you?

    • Read and sign the form presented by our volunteer. It describes the work to be done, and is a waiver indicating that you agree not to hold either the volunteer or STAYinTV responsible for any damage while he is working for you.
    • Prompt payment to the volunteer for parts he bought and, if he had to go outside the Village to get them, a $5 fee to cover his vehicle expenses.
  • Complete and return the feedback form the volunteer left with you to evaluate your experience with our program. You can show your appreciation by making a donation to:

Are you interested in becoming a volunteer?

We are always looking for handymen who can do minor maintenance jobs around the house. We would also like more women to join our team. Simply call our voice message center at (865) 458-7084 and follow the prompt to Home Maintenance or send an email to info@stayintv.org and let us know you want to be a volunteer. Our Program Coordinator will contact you. There is a need to be trained on how we do business and the use of our forms. We will need to understand your skills and any physical limitations.
