What is Care Calls?

The Care Calls Program volunteers reach out to Tellico Village residents who live alone and might appreciate getting a call on a regular basis to be sure they are okay.

How it Works

Simply call our voice message center at 865-458-7084. Select option 5 and leave a message with your name, phone number and that you are interested in the Care Calls Program.

A volunteer will return your call and explain the program. They will arrange for someone to call and check on you or sign up as a volunteer Caller.

The volunteer Caller will call you on a regular basis to be sure you are okay. If you need help, the volunteer Caller will make the next step that is preferred by you such as calling a family member, close neighbor or 911.

What Do We Expect From Our Clients

• You will define your preferred form of communication (email, text or phone call), frequency of contact and what you want the volunteer to do in case of an emergency.
• You will respond to your Caller’s contact within a reasonable  amount of time.
• You will notify the Caller ahead of time if you expect to be unreachable.

What Do We Expect From Our Volunteer Callers

• The Caller will contact the Client on a prearranged frequency and time.
• If the Client has an emergency or does not respond to the Caller’s attempt to communicate, the Caller will take the next step that the Client defines
• If the volunteer Caller will be unreachable, they will provide a back up caller for the Client.
